NEW RELEASE OF THE WEEK: THE DEAD WEATHER FOR THE $9.99 RIGHT PRICE!

Between Jack White and Alison Mosshart, there’s a whole lotta id spilled out on the garage floor. Either she’s his evil twin, or he’s hers, but their dirty, ferocious urges seem uncontainable. On The Dead Weather‘s second album, Sea of Cowards, they harness this icy alpha-dog tension into a distorted call-and-response aggression that’s now greater than its parts, a rudely heavy swath of rock’n’roll authority. – Spin

THE RIGHT PRICE AT THE RECORD EXCHANGE: $9.99 DEAD WEATHER TUESDAY, BAND OF HORSES MAY 18!

Think local. Think indie.

That’s the spirit of the Right Price program, which offers you great deals on new releases at The Record Exchange and keeps money in your pocket while keeping you away from the mall.

May is a big month in Right Price land, as The Dead Weather’s Sea of Cowards (May 11) and Band of Horses Infinite Arms (May 18) will be available for $9.99 each!

“Die By the Drop,” the first single from Sea of Cowards, is already out, and the latest full-length from Jack White‘s goth-garage side project is a robust and vigorous second act, filled with primal, bone-quaking rock rhythms and the same stellar urban blues and throbbing sleaze as its predecessor.

Infinite Arms is Band of Horses‘ third full-length and the first with Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds, long-time touring members of the group. (Watch a video on the making of Infinite Arms HERE.) Through touring together in support of Cease to Begin and during breaks in the Infinite Arms‘ recording process, the band have become a cohesive force with all members making invaluable contributions to the unmistakable sound that founder Bridwell has crafted since the band’s inception. As Bridwell himself concedes, “in many ways, this is the first Band of Horses record.”

FREE SIGNED JOSH RITTER BOOKLET WITH CD PRE-ORDER (ON SALE $12.99)!

Pre-order Josh Ritter‘s new CD So Runs the World Away this week at The Record Exchange and we’ll give you a free signed CD booklet when the album arrives on Tuesday, May 4!

Our friend Josh has signed a limited quantity of booklets from the new CD, and they’re available to customers who pre-order the CD this week for a special sale price of $12.99. The Record Exchange is taking pre-orders now through Monday, May 3. If you live out of town and want to pre-order the album, call us (208.344.8010), or better yet, email us and we will facilitate the order for you.

Early reviews of So Runs the World Away are hailing the album as another step forward in Ritter’s artistic evolution. NPR, which is currently streaming the album, says So Runs the World Away “doesn’t defy categorization so much as it creates its own. Ritter’s category lacks a name, but it has a sound, a vision and a sense of poetic determination that puts So Runs the World Away on a level reserved for records such as Bob Dylan’s Time Out of Mind, Tom Waits’ Rain Dogs and Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water. … With startling detail, distinctive storytelling, compelling subject matter and astonishing musicianship, Ritter’s new album has reset the singer-songwriter bar.”

Paste magazine says “Josh Ritter hits a beautiful stride on his sixth album, a soulful combination of conversational folk ballads and powerful gut punches. He’s not the only one channeling the greats, but he does it better than almost anyone else today.”
