THIS WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS:

• The ongoing My Morning Jacket Benefit Sale for ear X-tacy just got expanded to include two additional MMJ titles at special sale prices!

If you believe in the importance of the independent record store, go to The Record Exchange ThinkIndie Digital Store today and purchase these fine titles:

Okonokos ($9.99/double album)
Acoustic Citsuoca ($2.99)
Celebracion de la Cuidad Natal ($4.99)

My Morning Jacket and ATO Records are donating all proceeds to ear X-tacy, the storied Louisville independent record store where Celebracion was partially recorded.

The store is struggling to survive and in danger of closing, but after the owner announced that ear X-tacy might close, a group of supporters, including My Morning Jacket, went into action. Read about ear X-tacy’s situation HERE.

OTHER GOODIES:

• Check out our new Vinyl Rip Exclusives, which deliver vinyl-quality sound in a 320KB digital file (you have to hear them to believe it). We have two titles from two buzz-worthy indie bands, UME’s Sunshower and Dark Dark Dark‘s Bright Bright Bright for under 6 bucks apiece!
• Exclusive Gaslight Anthem Live at Park Ave. EP for a special $4.99 sale price! Recorded at Orlando ThinkIndie store Park Ave. CDs, this live recording was taken during the band’s tour with Rise Against, Thrice and Alkaline Trio. This is a full-band recording that includes a cover of the Robert Bradley’s Black Water Surprise song “Once Upon a Time.”

NEW RELEASE OF THE WEEK: WILLIE NELSON’S ‘COUNTRY MUSIC’ FOR THE $9.99 RIGHT PRICE – ONE WEEK ONLY!

Willie Nelson goes back to his roots with a songbook of classic Americana. Country Music was recorded in Nashville and produced by T Bone Burnett. Nelson wrote one track on the album, “Man With The Blues,” and, with T Bone Burnett, co-arranged three traditional songs, “Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down,” “I Am A Pilgrim” and “Nobody’s Fault But Mine.”

The album also features many popular old-time/bluegrass/folk songs, including Ernest Tubb’s “Seaman’s Blues,” Merle Travis’ “Dark As A Dungeon” and Doc Watson’s “Freight Train Boogie.”

Willie Nelson collaborated with many musicians on Country Music, including old-time banjo master Riley Baugus, double bassist Dennis Crouch and T Bone himself, all musicians featured on Raising Sand, the 2009 Grammy award-winning Album of the Year by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

NEW RELEASE OF THE WEEK: MGMT’S ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ FOR THE $9.99 RIGHT PRICE (ONE WEEK ONLY)!

Congratulations is musically adventurous, featuring nine psychedelic, space-inspired tracks. The space-rock aesthetic was no doubt influenced by producer and experimental musician Peter Kember, formerly of Spacemen 3. VanWyngarden also says the album was influenced by surf rock. There’s a chance that fans looking for more fun, electro-rock singles from MGMT won’t find what they’re looking for in the band’s sophomore release. But Congratulations turns out to be a more rewarding album to digest.” – Jess Gitner, NPR
