BODACIOUS RX BARGAIN BIN: NEW CDs $10 AND UNDER FROM UNIVERSAL MUSIC

Here at your favorite independent record store, we’re very conscious about price. We understand the questions and complaints we get from customers when they see a single-CD price hovering around the $20 mark, and we want you to know that we’re listening.

Thankfully, the labels are starting to listen, too. One of them is Universal Music Group. Last fall, Universal started trimming its standard $16.98-$18.98 list prices down to $12.98, and now it’s starting to roll out new albums — that’s right, NEW albums — for $10 and under.

You might have noticed Hole‘s new Nobody’s Daughter was offered at the RX for the low price of $9.99 when it came out a couple of weeks ago. That was no sale price; You can still get it for $9.99 today, a month from now, a year from now, whatever.

Same goes for recent new arrivals from the likes of The Jayhawks, Keane, Carney and We Are the Fallen.

NOONTUNES FLASH SALE: GET A USED CD OR DVD FOR $1 WHEN YOU BUY 2, FIND A GOLDEN TICKET PERCHANCE

Visit The Record Exchange today during the NoonTunes Flash Sale (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and get any used CD or DVD for $1 when you buy 2 used CDs or DVDs at regular price!

Feel free to mix and match, too — two CDs and a DVD, two DVDs and a CD, whatever. The discount will be taken on the lowest-priced item, whatever it is.

And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a Record Exchange Golden Ticket in one of them there used CDs or DVDs. The National Golden Ticket has been found, but thus far no one has found one of the Golden Tickets inserted randomly into Record Exchange used CDs and DVDs. Today could be your lucky day!

If you’re unfamiliar with the NoonTunes Flash Sale, it’s a special three-hour Monday sale when we offer super deals on everything from CDs and vinyl records to cool gift shop items and beverages at our espresso bar.

We hold the sale every Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and reveal the details in the morning over our blog, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Pony Express courier, etc.

We chose Monday for NoonTunes because, well, Mondays suck. And what better way to get out of the office than to come down to your favorite independent record store and score deep discounts during your lunch break!

NEW RELEASE(S) OF THE WEEK: BLACK KEYS, BAND OF HORSES FOR $9.99 EACH!

Two great bands, two great albums, one great price. Head down to The Record Exchange and get you some new Black Keys and Band of Horses for $9.99 each!

The New York Times has called The Black Keys’ music “tough-minded, blues haunted songs,” and the ghosts of Alabama’s legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, where the bulk of Brothers was recorded, inhabit the album’s 15 tracks. With Brothers, says Uncut, The Black Keys prove to be “one of the best rock ‘n’ roll bands on the planet.” Hear a full album stream HERE.

Infinite Arms is Band of Horses‘ third full-length and the first with Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds, long-time touring members of the group. (Watch a video for the song “Laredo” HERE and on the making of Infinite Arms HERE.) Through touring together in support of Cease to Begin and during breaks in the Infinite Arms‘ recording process, the band have become a cohesive force with all members making invaluable contributions to the unmistakable sound that founder Bridwell has crafted since the band’s inception. As Bridwell himself concedes, “in many ways, this is the first Band of Horses record.”
