If you still want a ticket at a great price — as in, free with purchase — come in today and buy Saving Abel’s new CD Miss America for $14.99 and we’ll give you a ticket. Tickets at the door are $15, so this is like getting a free CD. Or a free ticket. Look at it any way you wish. Limited quantities remain, hurry hurry!

HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS TICKET WINNER!

Congratulations to Michael Perez, winner of today’s Hawthorne Heights Twitter ticket giveaway!

The Hawthorne camp has been holding Twitter scavenger hunts in each town on their tour, stashing a pair of tickets at a select location for the first fan to claim. Michael was the first cat to strut in the door and snatch the tickets.

As for the rest of you, tickets to tonight’s Hawthorne Heights show at The Venue (7 p.m.) are still available at The Record Exchange. Not for free, mind you — we can’t all be Michael Perez, can we?

HAPPY TICKET WINNER ALERT!

Look at how happy Damien Jurado ticket winner Susanna Danner is! Last time we checked, you can’t buy that kind of happiness at Best Buy.

WE HAVE A MIXTAPE CONTEST WINNER!

Lucas Grubbs is the winner of The Record Exchange Record Store Day Mixtape Contest!

If you want a legitimate shot at winning the contest next year, look at the photo above and take notes. Lucas’ mix, titled “A Little Atomic Bomb,” is a museum-quality example of the mixtape as art. Lucas placed his CD in a recycled record sleeve (with the record still in it), wrapped it in yarn and filled the accompanying notebook with comprehensive musings on the track list, the art and craft of making a mix tape and his love of music in general.

And then there’s the mix itself: Bukowski reading his poetry, indie rock, hip-hop, country, good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll, weird and wonderful randomness … This is the stuff of refined taste, studious listening and a deep record collection, meticulously mixed with continuity and listenability in mind.

You can hear “A Little Atomic Bomb,” along with runner-up Rachael Balstad‘s “The Melange-a-Trois,” this afternoon at The Record Exchange. Happy Record Store Day!

Thanks to everyone who entered a mix — the variety of music and themes far exceeded our expectations. And a special thank you to Boise Weekly A&E Editor Amy Atkins for helping us vote!
