Today’s Record Exchange Secret Treefort In-store is …
Weeed will perform at 5 p.m. TODAY at The Record Exchange, 1105 W. Idaho St. in Downtown Boise. As always, this Record Exchange in-store event is free and all ages — and you don’t need a Treefort pass to attend (but you should get one anyway).
ABOUT WEEED
Weeed is a core of four good buds honing sonic, terrestrial and psychedelic heaviness. Gettin wild, grounding into the sensuous living landscape, stoner music, world music, expanding consciousness through music medicine, and serious goofiness.
Fostering a “goofy attitude and childlike wonder and play,” Weeed transcends traditional rock by evoking a meditative rhythm laced with experimental guitar, hypnotic drums, and deep, reverberating bass that awakens body, mind, and soul, seeking to evoke a sense of expansion with the audience as well as within themselves in order to surpass “identification with the mind/body/ego/form/content.” Their mission is well underway; watching Weeed share their live music with others is a meditative experience, where one can simultaneously get lost and found.”Through the vibrations of music,” Seaver explains, “we hope to fill our audience with love.” And the love is felt, as friends gather to blast-off into an alternate dimension of sound and community, bending and twisting their bodies in a symbiotic emergence while the band thrashes electric onstage beneath rainbow-print suspenders and wild, disheveled hair.’ – Christine St. Pierre, Parfitt Way Blog.
Weeed puts blues, early doom, riffed-out heavy metal, and psychedelic jam together with an overwhelming sense of originality and you can tell they fucking love what they do. – More Fuzz
Coming off like a transcendental super group between Al Cisneros (Sleep, Om) and Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple), this hippie metal power trio from Bainbridge Island, Washington, have created a sonic alter of doom riffs, psychedelic space jams, and primordial vocalizations in the form of chants and monkey screams… With a band called Weeed, it’s not surprising to find their devotion to Black Sabbath in the album name and Sleep in the hypnotic riffing. These guys are a different animal altogether, however, and their willingness to experiment with sounds and arrangements alters the listener’s overall expectations. – Doomed and Stoned
