TEENAGE TIMEKILLERS Greatest Hits Vol. 1 [exclusive indie doublemint vinyl and standard black vinyl]
The long-gestating brainchild of Corrosion Of Conformity founder/drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin, guitarist Mick Murphy (My Ruin, The Birds of Satan, Neanderthal) and producer John “Lou” Lousteau, Teenage Time Killers’ Greatest Hits Vol. 1 is 20 concise seismic shocks created by an all-star line up of punk and metal legends spanning decades. Joining Reed on drums and Mick on guitar on the album’s 20 mostly original tracks and few covers of underground classics (including the Rudimentary Peni deep cut that inspired the project’s title) are: Jello Biafra, Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, Dave Grohl and Pat Smear of Foo Fighters, Nick Oliveri, Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio, Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Tommy Victor of Prong and Danzig, Lee Ving of Fear, Mike “IX” Williams of Eyehategod, Mullin’s Corrosion of Conformity bandmates Mike Dean and Woody Weatherman, Karl Agell and many, many more. All instrumental tracks on Teenage Time Killers’ Greatest Hits Vol. 1 were recorded at Grohl’s 606 Studios in Northridge, Calif. The album was produced by John “Lou” Lousteau, Reed Mullin and Mick Murphy, and engineered and mixed by John “Lou” Lousteau at 606.

It was Rob Coombes’ first appearance on keyboards with the band.

WISHBONE ASH – Pilgrimage [vinyl replica CD]
This vinyl replica CD is an import. Pilgrimage is the second studio album by the rock band Wishbone Ash. The album focuses more on folk and acoustic music as opposed to the blues rock sound that dominated the first album. The album also contains an instrumental jazz workout (“Vas Dis”) and a four-part harmony vocal track in the spirit of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young (“Valediction”).The album sold well, reaching #14 in the UK charts, but the band would reach their creative and commercial peak with their next studio album release.

VARIOUS ARTISTS B.I.P.P.P.: French Synth-Wave 1979-1985
An influential blueprint for the evolution of French electronic music, the majority of the performers featured on B.I.P.P.P.: French Synth-Wave 1979-1985 never made it beyond limited DIY pressings of 500 or 1,000 copies of 7-INCH vinyl singles. Wired called them “lost synthwave gems” and Interview called it “A veritable treasure trove of post nuclear pop.” Includes the bonus track “Rainbow Man” by Busy P (sampling the track Comix’s “Touche Pas Mon Sexe”) as heard endlessly on TV behind the GooglePlay campaign! On limited edition double colored vinyl with poster.

ABOUT JOSH RITTER AND ‘SERMON ON THE ROCKS’

JR_Sermon_Album_Cover_itunes“…I wanted to make something grand. I wanted it to swing hard. I wanted to peek through death’s keyhole. I wanted my monster to run …” – Josh Ritter

Sermon on the Rocks, the new album from critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, will be released October 16 on Pytheas Recordings/Thirty Tigers. In advance of the release, the first single, “Getting Ready To Get Down,” premiered last month at NPR Music.

Produced by Ritter and Trina Shoemaker (Queens of the Stone Age, Emmylou Harris), the 12-song album was recorded over two weeks at New Orleans’ The Parlor Recording Studio and features Matt Barrick from The Walkmen on drums, Zachariah Hickman on bass, Josh Kaufman on guitar and Sam Kassirer on piano.

Of his inspiration behind Sermon on the Rocks, Ritter comments, “I wanted to play messianic oracular honky-tonk.”

Over the course of his acclaimed career, Ritter has released seven full-length albums, including his most recent, 2013’s The Beast In Its Tracks, which debuted at #22 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on the Top Rock Albums chart. The record also received widespread critical praise—NPR Music called it “…gorgeous and glorious,” while Pitchfork asserted, “Beast is contemplative and forgiving, a means of burying one relationship to commit to another, and Ritter nicely evokes the excitement and resignation of such a transition.” Additionally, in 2011, Ritter made is debut as a published author with his New York Times best-selling novel, Bright’s Passage (Dial Press/Random House). Of the work, Stephen King writes in The New York Times Book Review, “Shines with a compressed lyricism that recalls Ray Bradbury in his prime…This is the work of a gifted novelist.”
