With The Record Exchange’s huge selection of CDs, vinyl and DVD/Blu-ray, it’s sometimes easy to forget that we have several other quality products as well. I Bet You Didn’t Know We Had That is our attempt to spread the word on one of these products each week.

This week’s item: Big Lebowski action figures!

Putting the “big” in Big Lebowski, these giant vinyl figures of The Dude and Walter come complete with real cloth clothing, bowling balls and other movie-accurate accessories!

We have a whole bunch of other action figures, too, from movie characters to historical figures to Jesus — the O.G. Jesus, not Jesus Quintana. You said it, man.

Giggity-giggity-goo … Seth MacFarlane’s ridiculous Fox hit Family Guy gets Kidrobot-ified with these 3-inch FGKRs, available Thursday, Feb. 17, at The Record Exchange.

Packed full of all those utterly inappropriate good old-fashioned values on which we used to rely, it’s Family Guy! Your faves Peter, Lois, Chris, Stewie and Brian are there along with what’s-her-face. Don’t want to Stop Believin’? Quagmire, Joe and Cleveland make it happen.

With more accessories than correctness, each of the 15 blind boxed figures comes with an insert card and begs the question, “Which FGKR will you get?”

Here at Downtown Boise’s Biggest and Best Gift Shop, we may champion the unconventional, but that doesn’t mean we’re a Scrooge about the holidays.

No, we like to celebrate the season, and celebrate it the only way we know how — funktastically. And that means unique, kooky, sometimes blush-inducing ornaments, decorations and greeting cards. And the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Now, as for gift-giving, there’s a reason it’s call a gift shop, and ours is chock full of ideas, including rock ‘n’ roll calendars, music tees and collectibles, jewelry, home wares, books, stocking surprises, goofy office gifts, action figures (now including Big Lebowski!), toys (including organic and BPA-free items!), board games, posters, stickers and much much more.

We have traditional stuff, too — so don’t let Jack Skellington or that Christmas card with the f-bomb scare you or Grandma away.

So, The Record Exchange will have more than 150 exclusive, limited-edition Record Store Day releases available first thing Saturday morning, and we’re expecting a line. A long one.

And because we’re good sports and don’t want anyone chapping their hands on a cool, dry April morn, we’re opening The Record Exchange Gift Shop and Edge Espresso Bar one hour early, at 8 a.m., to let all you record geeks form a line inside the store so you can have first crack at all them exclusives at 9 a.m. with warm, working hands.

While there, you can grab a hot cup of coffee and soak up all the quirky fun that is The Record Exchange Gift Shop, which is full of t-shirts, magazines, posters, jewelry, incense, candles, homewares, toys, action figures, collectibles, greeting cards, kids stuff and other assorted kitsch-ass coolness.
