HOW TO PURCHASE THE TAYLOR SWIFT RECORD STORE DAY EXCLUSIVE

If you’re looking to purchase the Taylor Swift folklore: the long pond studio sessions Record Store Day exclusive at The Record Exchange on Saturday, April 22, please read below!

Unlike last year, when we held a drawing for the handful of copies we received of “the lakes” 7-inch, we are selling the 2023 Taylor exclusive in the traditional fashion – placing it out on the floor with the other 300 Record Store Day releases.

The Record Exchange will be open from 8am to 8pm on Record Store Day. Each year, there’s a line of 200-250 customers waiting to get in and purchase limited-edition RSD exclusives first thing. Some of our customers camp overnight to be among the first few people in line, others get in line a couple of hours before we open, some get in line right before 8. However and whenever you get here, you can expect to be among a couple hundred people in line by the time we open the doors at 8.

To answer the inevitable question, What time do I need to get there to make sure I get a Taylor Swift exclusive?, the answer is, we can’t give you an exact time because we never know when a specific release will sell out, nor can we guarantee you will get one. In this case, we ordered and received enough to (hopefully) last us through the end of the day Saturday*. BUT – and this is a big but – like we always tell customers regardless of the release, if you really, really, really want it and want to give yourself the best chance of getting it, get here as early as you can, because there are no guarantees we will still have any left by the time we close the doors at 8pm. There are no preorders, no reservations, no holds, no phone orders – Record Store Day releases are only available in person at The Record Exchange from 8am to 8pm Saturday. *Per store policy, we do not publicly share the exact quantities of RSD exclusives we receive.

The Taylor exclusive will be located on the stage with the other Record Store Day releases. It will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, one per customer – no exceptions. If you ask to purchase an extra copy for a friend, lover, neighbor, etc., we will politely tell you no. If you have trouble finding it, please ask a Record Exchange clerk – we will be happy to assist you.

We will update everyone on our socials as the day progresses, including an alert if and when our stock runs low enough where it looks like we’re on the verge of a sellout. The Record Exchange is on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and you’ll be able to find updates on all of those platforms.

In the event we do not sell out of the Taylor release, our remaining stock will be available in person and online at shop.therecordexchange.com starting on Sunday, April 23. Online sales start at 8am Eastern Standard Time Sunday; doors open for in-store purchases at 10am on Sunday and we close at 7pm. The one-per-person rule still applies after Record Store Day, so if you already bought one on Saturday, we won’t sell you any additional copies on Sunday or thereafter. Online orders are one-per-person as well. Online orders are available for in-store pickup or shipping worldwide.

Record Store Day is our favorite day of the year and we look forward to celebrating it with you (click here to see all the fun things we have planned for the weekend). If you are visiting the store for the first time, do not hesitate to ask a Record Exchange staff member for assistance. If you have any questions before Saturday, please email us here. Thank you and Happy Record Store Day!
