SECRET TREEFORT IN-STORE REVEAL: FRANCISCO THE MAN TODAY AT 5 PM!

1214FRANCISCO022

Today’s Record Exchange Secret Treefort In-store is …

Francisco the Man!

Francisco the Man (playing at the Linen Building at 9 p.m. tonight) will perform at 5 p.m. TODAY at The Record Exchange, 1105 W. Idaho St. in Downtown Boise. As always, this Record Exchange in-store event is free and all ages — and you don’t need a Treefort pass to attend (but you should get one anyway and we have them for sale at the store).

ABOUT FRANCISCO THE MAN

418456106357-500It took roughly seven years for Scotty Cantino, Nestor Romero and Abdeel Ortega to arrive at Francisco The Man. Following a two-year hiatus beginning in 2008, the band relocated from Riverside to Los Angeles, CA, bringing along a new addition, guitarist Brock Woolsey.

Following two 7-inches on Small Plates Records, their debut LP, Loose Ends, was released in Fall 2014 on Fat Possum and gives its audience a more encompassing look at Francisco The Man. “I think the LP shows a broader, more realized, version of Francisco The Man,” Scotty Cantino explains. “You can’t do that with a single”. This broader, more realized version of Francisco that’s shown on Loose Ends is enveloped in a sound that blends garage rock, new wave, and shoegaze and gives listeners a fair shot at understanding just how loud this band is.

SECRET TREEFORT IN-STORE REVEAL: BUXTON TODAY AT 7 PM!

Buxton portraitToday’s Record Exchange Secret Treefort In-store is …

Buxton!

Buxton (playing a 21+ Treefort show at The Bouquet at 10 p.m. tonight) will perform at 7 p.m. TODAY at The Record Exchange, 1105 W. Idaho St. in Downtown Boise. As always, this Record Exchange in-store event is free and all ages — and you don’t need a Treefort pass to attend (but you should get one anyway and we have them for sale at the store).

ABOUT BUXTON

4220Some places you feel like you only sort of fit in, and it is this theme that permeates Houston based folk rock band Buxton’s new aptly titled album Half A Native. One of the leading lights of an emerging music scene from a city with a burgeoning youth culture, Buxton have won 2 Houston Press Music awards as best Houston Folk/Americana band as well as Best Male Vocals (Sergio Trevino).

Their new album ventures into vast sonic territories, sometimes pairing atmospheric piano with off-kilter electric guitar, blanketed by Trevino’s heart-clenched voice and melancholic but optimistic lyrics. “We take from a lot of different genres and present it in a way that I think is most honest for us,” Trevino says. “You’ll hear rock, folk, country, ambience, and distortion, all interpreted through us.”

Recorded in Los Angeles with Thom Monahan (Peter, Bjorn & John, Devendra Banhart and Vetiver), the 11 new tracks broadcast a wandering sound, from the dusty tones of guitar-slinging anthems to lonesome acoustic affairs that look outward and within. Their latest effort is music for the search for home; the long journey to find somewhere, something, or someone that makes everything fall into place.
