Goodbye, Waterloo

2010 to 2019. A hundred records across 10 year-end Top 10 lists, plus other favorites that didn’t make the lists, or weren’t discovered until later. And that’s just the music released in the last decade. I’ve spent a lot of time combing our used bins for interesting things from the past, like Lydia Pense and Cold Blood. The world of music rewards constant reevaluation, and this exercise in list-making brings things into focus. We are always looking to the future in this business. It’s fun to look backwards sometimes.

Everything listed in this Top 10 is tied for first, but you have to make a decision sometimes. Any one of the records listed above is a potential No. 1 for me. It’s all personal. The older I get, the less categories mean to me. Dilettante that I am, it’s all fair game.
