The Record Exchange was one of a few select indie record stores in the country to get our hands on an ultra-rare vinyl test pressing of the new Devil Makes Three album I’m a Stranger Here, and one lucky customer will win it along with a New West Records prize pack that includes a record tote bag, turntable slip mat, T-shirt and sticker).

To be entered into the drawing, we are requiring a CD or vinyl purchase of I’m a Stranger Here. Why? Because we want the vinyl to go to a Devil Makes Three fan and not up on eBay. Morrissey‘s 25: Live is a legacy concert film marking 25 years of the solo career of one of the world’s most iconic and enigmatic performers. Shot during Morrissey’s most intimate gig in decades at the Hollywood High School in Los Angeles on March 2, 2013, the film opens with fans talking about their unwavering devotion to the singer and the unique appeal of this unusual venue — a striking contrast to the sold out arena concert at the Staples Center on the previous night. Tickets to the concert in the 1,800-seater school auditorium had sold out in 12 seconds and this now legendary concert became Morrissey’s penultimate performance on the U.S. tour. The first authorized Morrissey film for nine years and featuring many classic tracks from the artist’s prolific repertoire, 25: Live is an unmissable release for fans worldwide.

It’s no secret that Poliça‘s sound is built from contemporary indie tropes, as the Minneapolis group combined yacht rock tempos, Auto-Tuned vocals and R&B rhythms on last year’s debut, Give You the Ghost. With their follow-up, Shulamith, the quintet find themselves drifting further back into denser territory, using ’90s trip-hop and millennial British chill-out as starting points for their newfound sleek and steely sound. Vocalist Channy Leaneagh (also of Midwestern super-group Gayngs) comes across darker and more adventurous on tracks that range from dynamic (“Vegas”) to moody (“Trippin”) to downright playful (“Matty”), all the while remaining defiantly melodic and blissful. — Exclaim
