A lifelong songwriter, Kaje Wise released Sellwood Station under the moniker Wiseacre in 2022. Since then, Wiseacre has gained notoriety around the Pacific Northwest and beyond, landing Wise a spot in the prestigious Hambidge Artist Residency. Wise’s time in the mountains of northern Georgia redoubled their dedication to the folk traditions that inspired Sellwood Station, and encouraged them to explore more unorthodox song structures and arrangements. The band’s current lineup of Seattle-based musicians lets Wise preserve the poignancy of their earlier songwriting while leaning more into rock and y’alternative soundscapes.
