It’s First Thursday, and all day long The Record Exchange is offering customers $2 off any used CD or DVD $5.99 and above!

IN THE GIFT SHOP: DIY BOOKS & MORE!

Did you see Handmade Nation at The Flicks? We did, and it was a truly inspiring documentary on the rise of the DIY craft movement.

Boise has a strong DIY scene in its own right, and in the interest of expanding and educating about the scene, The Record Exchange Gift Shop has just added a slew of DIY arts and crafts books.

The books, many of them how-to guides, cover topics including stitching, T-shirts, toys, zines, art and others. You’ll also find local homemade products such as greeting cards, T-shirts and handbags. Just look for the “Made in Idaho, Made By You” sign.

BODACIOUS RECORD EXCHANGE BARGAIN BIN: SIDEWALK SALE SECONDS

So, you missed the annual Record Exchange Sidewalk Sale. You were out of town. You forgot about it. You don’t like rain. You’re lazy. Whatever.

Well, here’s your second chance. While we’ve boxed up some of the Sidewalk Sale and shoved it in a dark corner, much of the mirthfully marked down merchandise is still on the floor and sale priced to move. Music, T-shirts, DVDs, gifts, you name it. Come and get it while the gettin’s still good.

NOONTUNES FLASH SALE: EXTREME FLASH SALE — LITERALLY! AS IN, THE BEST BAND IN THE UNIVERSE, EVER!

Visit The Record Exchange today during the NoonTunes Flash Sale (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and get a free Extreme limited-edition numbered 12-inch box set when you buy three for $4.99 each — that’s 4 for the price of 3 if you like to think of things in those terms.

So, this is a pretty special Flash Sale — maybe the specialist (yeah, it’s a word, jackass) Flash Sale we’ve ever held, or anyone has ever held. Ever. In the entire universe.

In our used vinyl section (look under Used New Arrivals, sub-category 90s/New Millennium Rock) there are four Extreme 12-inch box sets. Numbered. Limited edition. With posters and unreleased tracks. “Stop the World.” “Hole Hearted.” All that.

But here’s the rub: Only one lucky customer — that’s one person in the entire universe – will get to take advantage of this great deal. And yeah, “great” is a pretty lame adjective to use whilst discussing the best band in the universe. Ever. Seriously, when the apocalypse comes, these glorious bastards will be the house band, and they’ll slit the throats of the four horsemen and take their jobs, too. That’s not even mentioning the hair. Oh, the hair.

If you’re unfamiliar with the NoonTunes Flash Sale, it’s a special three-hour Monday sale when we offer super deals on everything from CDs and vinyl records to cool gift shop items and beverages at our espresso bar.

We hold the sale every Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and reveal the details in the morning over our blog, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Pony Express courier, etc.

We chose Monday for NoonTunes because, well, Mondays suck. And what better way to get out of the office than to come down to your favorite independent record store and score deep discounts during your lunch break!
