We’ve cleaned out our storage, combed through the bins on the floor and we’re ready to purge. Mark your calendars for the The Record Exchange (in)Sidewalk Sale Nov. 2-6!

The “(in)” is there because the sale will be held inside the store instead of the traditional location on the sidewalk. It’s November. It’s getting cold. No one needs that. So we’re moving the beautiful organized chaos that is our annual clearance sale into the warm and welcoming store itself.

In September 1967 The Beatles embarked on making their third film, this time conceived and directed by themselves. 

Based on a loose unscripted narrative, in the spirit of the experimental mood of the time, and directed by The Beatles themselves, the film became the vehicle to present 6 new songs – Magical Mystery Tour, The Fool On The Hill, Flying, I Am The Walrus, Blue Jay Way and Your Mother Should Know. 

Now, 45 years on, the virtually forgotten film has been fully restored and is being presented properly for the first time. 

The restoration of Magical Mystery Tour has been overseen by Paul Rutan Jr. of Eque Inc., the same company that handled the much acclaimed restoration of Yellow Submarine. The soundtrack work was done at Abbey Road Studios by Giles Martin and Sam Okell. 

All of the packages contain a host of special features, packed with unseen footage. There are newly-filmed interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and other members of the film’s cast and crew, as well as a director’s audio commentary recorded by Paul.

Payette Brewing Co. and The Record Exchange proudly present the Leonard Cohen 78th Birthday Bash at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at The Record Exchange (1105 W. Idaho St. in Downtown Boise). As always, this Record Exchange in-store event is free and all ages.

Leonard Cohen turns 78 on Sept. 21, and Payette Brewing Co. and The Record Exchange are hosting a celebration in his honor!

The festivities include:

• Live Cohen covers performed on The Record Exchange stage by local musicians, including A Seasonal Disguise, With Child, Thomas Paul, aka Belle’s Catherine Merrick, Dan Costello, Lee Penn Sky, Speedy Gray, Kayleigh Jack, Chris Gutierrez, Xandra Bonar, James Coberly Smith, James Miller and more!
