BOISE’S THE VERY MOST RELEASES ITS FIRST CHRISTMAS EP; AVAILABLE AT THE RECORD EXCHANGE SATURDAY, DEC. 3!

ORDER ONLINE HERE.

Boise indie pop band The Very Most have always been big on Christmas. They’ve appeared on multiple Christmas compilations and recorded two Christmas songs for their seasonally themed Winter EP in 2009. Hell, even when they’re not doing Christmas songs, they’re adding sleigh bells to most of their songs. That said, it hasn’t been until now that they’ve put out a straight-up, honest-to-goodness all-Christmas release. Snow Covered, a collection of four Christmas cover songs that don’t usually get covered, will be available at The Record Exchange for $4.99 beginning Saturday, Dec. 3.

On this CD, The Very Most cover songs by The Beach Boys, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Vashti Bunyan and Twice as Much, and The Wombles, who were a fake band behind a BBC kids show about a group of giant, lovable mice-like creatures. These songs feature guest appearances by Duglas T. Stewart of Scottish band BMX Bandits (who recorded three albums for Creation records), Darragh Nolan of Irish band Sacred Animals, Mel Whittle of Glasgow’s The Hermit Crabs, and Rachael Jensen, formerly of Portland’s Parenthetical Girls. They also feature local guest musicians Alison Ward of Hillfolk Noir and Aage Nielsen, formerly of Darkwood Consort.

Another thing you should know about this release is that half of the proceeds go to the Idaho Foodbank. The Very Most couldn’t really feel right about using the idea of Christmas to make music without, you know, doing something at least a little bit Peace-on-Earth-Goodwill-Toward-Men-ish.
